August 4
I'm working on the undergarments currently, and have the chemise finished and a petticoat almost
done. I don't have pictures of them yet, but I did take a few quick shots of the fabrics for the gown.
Gretchen's Green Gown:
I am using McCall 2806 - the red gown - as a pattern basis. The overdress will be velvet,
including the sleeves. The green brocade fabric will be the underskirt, but since it is not
long enough I will add a band of the satin at the bottom, with the fringe covering the seam.
The metallic trim will decorate the bodice, and more fringe will be used on the skirt of the
overdress, as well. It'll look something like this:
I also have leather to make
shoes - which should be an
interesting project. :p
Oh, and Jazz wanted to help me cut out the
chemise for Gretchen's costume.

Finished the petticoat today, and took pictures of it with the chemise I made a couple weeks ago.
The chemise is for Gretchen's costume, and I think the off-white color will work well with her
green and gold gown. The petticoat can go with either costume, as it won't show at all. Want to
know how I got the pretty decorative edge around the bottom? It's the top of an old sheet. :p In
the back, I just folded up the other end of the sheet to the same width, which gives it a nice even
weight all the way around.
Forgot to take pictures of the snood! I finished it about a week ago, although it might need to be
made bigger. I need to fit it on Gretchen's head, but I won't get a chance to do that for another
week. I crocheted it, mostly making up my own pattern as I went along. :p It was fun.

Worked on the green/gold underskirt. I need to take some pictures of it, but first I need to find some gold satin. See,
the green fabric is not wide enough to make a full skirt, which doesn't really matter since it'll only show in the front
where the overskirt opens. So I decided to sew the green and gold fabrics together to make one skirt, which can be
worn with either the green or the gold in front. But I accidentally cut the gold too short, so now I need to do the same
thing as I did with the green fabric - add a coordinating strip at the bottom and cover it with trim.
The gold brocade will be
an alternate underskirt for
both gowns.
I also pleated the middle sections of
both sides of the skirt, and the sides
will gather up so it's adjustable to
both me and Gretchen.
